Vice President Jd vance And the other lady of Usha visits Greenland on Friday, an island of less than 60,000 people who became Central for Foreign Policy President Donald Trump.
Vanses visit the Space Force Pituffik base, where they will receive briefing about arctic safety issues and meet with members of the US service.
“Vice -President and other lady embark on a historical expedition by his visit to Greenland, where the vice president will emphasize the importance of strengthening conditions in places such as Pituffik’s space base,” said the White House official. “Unfortunately, Danish leaders spent decades harassing the Greenland people, treating them as a second class citizens and allowing infrastructure on the island to fall in clutter. Expect the vice -president to emphasize these points as well.”
Usha Vance is originally planned to travel to Greenland Without a vice -president on a cultural trip to watch the dog’s sank race. However, earlier this week the vice president decided to join, and the trip was diverted to focus on national security.

Vance is the highest official who has ever traveled north of Pituffika, said the White House.
Vance’s first trip abroad to Paris and Germany made waves for its difficult conversation about Europe, which was icy over the US -As relationship to some nations, but encouraged the mobilization of financing by Europe for your own defense.
Trump made a mission to take over Greenland from Denmark in his second administration.
“We need Greenland for national security and international security,” he told reporters in the oval office.

“So, I think we’ll go as far as we have to go,” he continued. “We need Greenland. And we need the world to have Greenland, including Denmark. Denmark must have Greenland. And, you know, we’ll see what’s going on. But if we don’t have Greenland, we can’t have great international security.”
“I look at it from a security point of view, we have to be there,” Trump added.
Greenland relies on well -being from Denmark, which currently contributes to about half of its annual budget, which is about $ 700 million a year.
In January, in response to Trump’s ambitions, Denmark announced that she would spend another two billion dollars to strengthen the defense on the island.

Trump’s administration hung billions of Greenland to invest in the development of their natural resources – rare minerals of land and oil and gas reserves.
However, the mining Greenland has proven notoriously, given that 80% of the island is covered with an ice sheet.
Greenland’s Prime Minister Mute Egede, earlier this week, called the upcoming Vance “very aggressive American pressure against the Greenland community” and invited European leaders to oppose it.

In 2019, Trump founded space force as a way to defend himself against attacks on American interests in Earth’s orbit. In recent years, China and Russia have intensified their Arctic presence, investing in icebreakers, new nuclear submarines and minerals of rare countries.
