“El Salvador is now safer than most Europe,” wrote one user X, who has millions of followers. As a reaction to contrast, Elon Musk, a technological billionaire at the helm of the Ministry of Government Efficiency, replied: “Wow.”
Musk was a vocal critic of mass migration in Western Europe, and a billionaire earlier this year ran on behalf of the Alternative Party Für Deutschland (AFD) in Germany before state elections in February.
