President Donald Trump He said he would continue to look for Austin Tice, an American journalist who disappeared in Syria in 2012.
Tice, who previously served as a captain at Marine Corps and was a student at Georgetown University Law Center, began working as an independent journalist for McClatchy, Washington Post and other outlets in Syria in May 2012 before being seized by jihadist militants near Damascus.
Trump said that although “there were almost no signs,” his administration would continue to try to secure Tice’s release.
“Until we find out something finally, one way or another, we will never stop watching,” Trump told reporters on Monday. “But we were also an answer – it’s just a lot of dead streets. It’s a long time. The problem is that there was never a vision.”

Trump comments come after Tice’s mother, debra, told reporters At the National Press Club in December, they received information that suggests that her son is still alive.
“We have from a significant source that has been checked throughout our Government: Austin is alive,” said his mother Debra Tice on December 6th. Later, she met with former President Joe Biden’s national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, in the White House to talk about her son’s wrong custody.
In the meantime, the rebels ended in December in December, Syrian President Bashar Assad, which forced the FBI to issue a statement in which he reiterated his pressure from April 2018. For more information they could lead to the publication of TICE.
“Considering recent events in Syria, the FBI renews our call for information that could lead to a safe place, recovery and return of Austin Bennett Tice, which was detained in Damascus in August 2012,” the FBI statement said.

Both Trump’s first administration and Biden administration have initiated efforts to improve the release of TICE. Biden urged the Syrian government to release the Tice in 2020 and said that now they knew with certainty that the Syrian regime would be hostage. Syria publicly denied that she had detained the tick.
