The 1947 agreement, which describes the obligations as the host of the United Nations, continues to provide employees and members of their families with a relatively unsettled access to the USA
At the time of increased fears of national safety and implementation of immigration by Trump’s administration, experts call for re-examination of the host agreement overlooking the functional immunity assigned to the UN staff and the limited check of those with UN visas.
“The United States seems to have taken a relaxed view of individuals who enter the country associated with the UN, whether as employees or as representatives of different rural missions. However, we know that the UN employees had, and continue, and continue, close, direct relations with terrorist organizations, such as Unrwa and Hamas,“Anne Bayefsky, director of the Institute of Human Rights and Holocaust and President of Human Rights Votes, told Fox News Digital.

The Federal Government gives G visas to employees, spouses and children of international organizations, including the UN, who reside or visit, now according to the State Department website, “If you are entitled to G Visa, under the US Visa Law, you must receive G visa. Exceptions to this rule are extremely limited.” The State Department also explains that “Embassies and Consulates generally do not require an interview for those who apply for visas G -1 – 4 and NATO -1 – 6, although the consular officer may request an interview.”
Hugh Dugan, an older counselor for 11 former UN ambassadors, he told Fox News Digital to “make me” Green the G Visa [U.N. employees] is a relative exercise of stamps. “Although it did not require interviews of the staff” they became a matter of benefits, honestly, we should always be able to evaluate the threat to our country. “
Dugan, former Special Assistant Council for National Security President and Senior Director for International Organization, said that a nation like Russia and China was allowed only left to a certain distance from the UN headquarters. “We are here in mind the activities and presence of our opponents, but the doors are open to participate in the UN, and the host land agreement allows no country forbidden for a particular political atmosphere or questions that could be cooked between us and them.”

Fox News Digital asked State Department if it requires interviews for staff from Opposing Member StatesIncluding Cuba, Venezuela, Russia, North Korea, Iran and China, but did not get an answer. A spokesman for the State Department reiterated that consular officers “for any reason have full powers to demand a personal interview.”
Peter Gallo, a former UN UN investigator for OOIOS, told Fox News Digital that he is particularly concerned about the functional immunity assigned to the UN staff, which participates in the activities related to their employment. Gallo explained that “the US legal system accepted that it was covering the blanket.” He added that “immunity gives birth to impunity.”
Republicans seek to block the re -appointment of UN officials accused of anti -Semitism
Gallo claimed there was An epidemic of sexual offenses and inconsistent behavior among UN staff. He quoted an incident in which an UN employee outside the US -sexually harassed a “young female in his ward.” Gallo said it took two years after receipt of the investigation report to end, which resulted in a demonstration of the employee he committed. Gallo said she was a harassment employee and her harassing remained in the same organization.
Gallo said that if employees participate in incomplete behavior while headquartered at the UN headquarters, the US government should be able to examine cases and determine whether the staff should retain their G visas.
Dugan said if the staff of the UN -A “knew it [immunity] We could pick up any time … They could start behaving much differently. ”

In response to questions about whether the UN staff is charged with sexual abuse in the United States or whether the UN staff dealing with inconsistent behavior has been deprived of G Vizam, a spokesman for the State Department explained that the department is “generally not providing” recall statistics. They also said that “all applicants for visa, regardless of the type of visa and where they are, are continuously checking. Security checking starts from the time of each application, a visa judgment, and after that during the period of validity of each visa issued to ensure that individuals remain eligible for traveling to the United States.”
A spokesman said that UN officials were expected to “obey the applicable laws of the United States, including criminal laws. Failure to be abused by the privilege of residence.” They added that this “refers to those who hold diplomatic immunity for their positions.”
Among the staff who raised the inner bell alarm is the UN special reporter on occupied Palestinian territory Francesca Albanese, who traveled USA in 2024 to submit a report before the third committee of the General Assembly. Albanese, whose anti -Semitism was widely condemned by older American diplomats and state department, was allowed to visit multiple American college campuses while in the United States
