President Donald Trump It is not “trolling” when it comes to efforts to procure Greenland and to become Canada 51.
Trump talked about acquiring Greenland, Canada and Panama For months – and regularly mentioned to Canada as 51 countries in the United States, despite the skepticism of some, Trump announced in an interview with Time Magazine on Friday that he was serious about these proposals.
When asked by Eric Cortellesa Time, whether Trump was “a little troll”, suggesting that Canada joined the US -in, Trump replied, “Actually, no, I didn’t.”

Cortellesa then asked if Trump wanted to “grow the American empire”, which made Trump double to the importance of gaining these key parts of the territory.
“Well, it depends as an empire, it’s not, it’s not the things we had before, so I’d see it a little different if we had the right opportunity,” Trump said. “Yes, I think Greenland would be very good, if I think it’s important for us for national security and even international security.”
Trump also claimed that the US “loses” money that supports Canada, and the only solution on the table is to become a state.
“We take care of their army,” Trump said. “We take care of all the aspects of their lives and do not need them to make cars for us. In fact, we don’t want them to make cars for us. We want to make our own cars. We don’t need their wood. We don’t need their energy. We don’t need anything from Canada. And I say that the only way is that thing really acting for Canada to become a state.”

The time was announced the day after Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney told reporters that Trump routinely discusses that Canada becomes a state, claiming that Trump brings it “all the time.” Carney has previously excluded all the ideas that Canada will become an American state.
In the meantime, Trump emphasized that Greenland is crucial for national security purposes. Although Danish territory said he was seeking independence from Copenhagen and inclined to join the US, Trump expressed a strong desire to secure Greenland due to the increase in Russian and Chinese presence in the Arctic.

“If you look at Grenland right now, if you look at the waterways, you have Chinese and Russian ships everywhere and we won’t be able to do so,” Trump told reporters in March. “We do not rely on Denmark or anyone to take care of the situation. And we are not talking about peace for the United States, we are talking about world peace, we are talking about international security.”
