Ministry of Justice Lawyer Brian Ward claimed during a hearing on Thursday that probation programs were always discretioned.
“The number of problems here is that the secretary, in the abbreviated period of probation that provides these individuals, must have an argumentative decision,” Talwani said, according to Time magazine. “There was a contract and now that job was underrated.”
The advocacy groups of immigration initially sued Trump’s administration for their plan to end the conditional discharge program, which began under the management of Biden.
