Tom Hanks’ daughter opens up about late mother’s ‘violence’

Tom Hanks’ The only daughter, EA Hanks, remembers the complicated childhood disturbed by the divorce of her parents and mother, who she claims could be emotionally and physically “violent”.

Ea, whose initials are for Elizabeth Anne, wrote about her experience in her upcoming memoir “The 10: A Memoir of Family and The Open Road”. The parents of the 42-year-old split after five years of marriage in 1985, and her mother Susan Dillingham, whom she describes as Hanks’ first “non-recognized” wife, received primary custody.

The “Great” actor saw EA and her older brother Colin Hanks47, on weekends and summer, she wrote in a punch People magazine.

Ea said she was born in the Los Angeles area, but her mother moved them to Sacramento after separation.

“In the end, a divorce agreement was resolved, and on weekends I would visit my father and stepmother (and soon enough younger half of the brothers) and during the summer, but from 5 to 14 years filled with confusion, violence, lack and love, I was a Sacramentto girl,” she wrote. “I lived in a white house with columns, a courtyard with a pool and a bedroom with a horse paintings glued to each wall.”

She said that Dillingham, who also passed by the Samantha Lewes stage name, was unable to tell his father to leave La with his children.

“My father came to pick us up from school, and we weren’t there,” Ea explained, according to people. “And it turns out we haven’t been there for two weeks and has to find us.”

The life of EA and Colin with Dillingham was upset in the sacrament.

“As the years went by, the yard became so many dogs — that you couldn’t walk around it, a house standing with smoke,” she wrote, adding that she believed that her mother, although undiagnosed, had suffered from bipolar disorder and episodes of extreme paranoia and misconceptions.

“The refrigerator was naked or full of slave food more often than not, and my mother spent more and more time in her large bed with a four-crying, crossing the Bible.”

Then Hanks suddenly received the primary detention after the incident.

“One night, her emotional violence became physical violence, and after that I moved to Los Angeles, to the right he broke through in the middle of the seventh grade,” she wrote. “My arrangement for custody is basically transferred – now I lived in La -ui visited Sacramento on weekends and in the summer.”

Ea added that in her higher year high school, her mother “urged her to say she was dying.”

Dillingham died of lung cancer in 2002 at the age of 49.

Memoir is mostly focused on the journey she took from La Palatko, Florida in 2019, where Dillingham’s family lived to try to find out more about her mother. It was inspired by a different journey she and her mom took together.

“When I was 14, my mother and I drove to America along the Interstate 10 to Florida, in Winnebag who pierced the asphalt with a valid walk that felt nautical,” she wrote about one of her last memories of Dillingham.

She said the only time she remembers her parents were “in the same place at the same time” in Colin’s and her high schools.
