Experts say it is difficult to determine if the company is truly owned by the Chinese company, which is part of the CCP strategy.

“The Chinese Communist Party will affect people,” he says. “Five Chinese national students were caught spying at the Grayling camp. So when you consider the threat of impact on the Chinese communist party, we must be awake and protect US universities and US dollars.”

Five Chinese students were accused of lying to the FBI last fall after claiming they were watching meteoric showers at midnight at the base, but instead it was revealed that they had photographed the installation. The FBI said they graduated from all five last spring at the University of Michigan, and were part of a joint program between the University of Shanghai Jiao Tong in Shanghai in China.

This is exactly the kind of suspicious scenario that Sanders tries to solve.

“We know that so often China is looking for any possible way in developing relationships for the purpose of exploiting and the purpose of restoring this information and use against us,” she says. “We want to make sure we protect ourselves from that.”

The Chinese Embassy in Washington has now accused of “politicizing and weapons of economic and trade issues.” The Liu Pengya Embassy spokesman says US officials “deliberately obstruct a normal economic and trade exchange for (a) political agent.”

But critics charge this exactly what CCP does under the guise of trade and friendship.

“We need to be proactive,” warns Rev. Moolenar. “We don’t need to look for a smoking gun so much, we have to look for a filled gun that is actually a threat to America.”
