Memphis man, who called himself a “serial killer” during the trial, “was sentenced to an additional 159 years in prison after recognizing the guilt of three first -degree murder points on Valentine’s Day.
His punishment should withstand a consecutive condemnation for two first -degree murders, resulting in lifelong penalties in the total number of 102 years. In combination, he is facing 261 years of prison for five murders.
Joshua Dotson, a self -sufficient killer, was convicted in 2020 for the murder of former girlfriend Jamesha Covson and their unborn child in August 2024.
After Covson’s death, Dotson wrote “Fly High”. On social media in memory of her, while he called her a “sex worker” in court and claimed to be aware of his previous murders, Which he claimed was his motive for murder.

After the first verdict, the Shelby County District Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement that they hoped that the sentence had brought justice for her mother and child.
“Today’s verdict brings a measure of justice for Jamesha Covson and her unborn child,” said a spokesman for the Shelby County State Attorney’s Office. “The court’s decision confirms that those who commit violence with such disrespect for human life will be responsible. Our hearts are with family and friends Jamesha Covson, and we hope that this sentence will bring them some peace as they continue to grieve this deep loss.”

Dotson took an inaorty approach during the trial, often testifying in his own defense and calling himself as a “A serial killer.” He also compared himself to “Michael Myers”, fictional killers.
Dotson eventually took responsibility for three additional killings between 2019 and 2020.

Dotson declared himself guilty of the first -degree murder in Divieon Parker’s death, two points of the first instance murder in the death of Renet Bennett and Regional Anderson, and three points of reckless threat to a deadly weapon.
“After five years, we are glad that we finally had justice for multiple victims of Dotson. His sentence, and from the judgment of guilt after the trial and these two pleas today, amount to 261 years in prison.
