“I learned that this was not the best question to ask immunotherapy, because immunotherapy was only about 10 years old,” she told Nightline.
Initially, she was upset when she heard that immunotherapy had a “50/50” success rate.

Mellencamp began treatment with radiation and immunotherapy immediately after surgery, which took the toll on her body.
“I thought I would feel how I felt after lifting my neck,” she said. “My reaction is always a headache and I discovered that this is good news because it means that immunotherapy or radiation kills your cancer.”
