Russian-American ballerina Ksenia Karelina released by Moscow


The Russian-American Ballerina Ksenia Karelina, who was wrongly detained in Russia for more than a year, was on his return to the United States, confirmed State Secretary of State Marco Rubio early Thursday.

“American Ksenia Karelina is on a plane home to the United States. Russia has closed her injustice for more than a year, and President Trump has secured a release. @Potus will continue to work on letting out all Americans,” Rubio wrote on X.

Karelina was sentenced to 12 years in Russian prison after donating about $ 50 in early 2024 to Ukrainian charity organization.

Wall Street Journal reported that Karelina was released in exchange for the release of Arthur Petrov, a double German Russian citizen arrested in 2023 at Cyprus at the request of the United States for charges of exporting sensitive microelectronics.
