President of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, Archbishop Timothy Broglio, thanked the pope for the letter.
“We pray with you that the US government is maintained by the previous obligation to help those who desperately need,” Broglio wrote. “I am brave looking for your constant prayer to find the courage as a nation to build a humane system of immigration, one that protects our communities as it protects the dignity of all.”
