The New Jersey police officer was charged and closed after allegedly breaking into a residence last week and attacked two victims.
Rebecca Sayegh, 32, has been charged with invasions in the home invasion and two points of attack, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office. It is also reserved with two points of criminal misconception, along with terrorist threats and resisting arrests.
Charges arise from an incident of 25 April that included “home disorder” in The city of Berkeley. Officers were alerted to the scene around 11:20 pm
“The relevant officers found that an individual, later identified as a Sayegh-exhibit police officer Toms River Township-split the front glass door of the residence, entered the residence, then attacked and threatened two victims at the residence,” the prosecution explained.

The 32-year-old also damaged the hood of the vehicle that belonged to one of the victims, which was parked at the driveway at the time.
“Sayegh was detained at the scene – after resisting the efforts to arrest peacefully,” the statement said.
“Originally, she was handed over to her charges through calls to the upcoming first appearance in the Ocean County Court,” the prosecution added. “However, due to the serious nature of the charges, Sayegh was re -charged with a warrant on April 28, 2025.”
Sayegh was then transported to Ocean district prison, where he currently remains a detention hearing.

“Prosecutor Billhimer welcomes the Berkeley Township Police Directorate for their efforts regarding the investigation,” the prosecution concluded.
In 2021, Sayegh received the Class B Award for his bold efforts during the home fire, according to the Rijeka Police Directorate of Toms.
“Officer Sayegh was the first on the spot, he learned that the homeowner was without an account and probably still inside,” Police statement read about the incident. “Officer Sayegh managed to follow [the victim] and her pets across the street to safety. Police officer Sayegh was praised for his fast actions, courage and rescue shops. “
