Nigeria’s newest armed group declared a terrorist organisation

Nigerian authorities have officially declared the Lakurawa armed group – which drives people to listen to music – a terrorist organization and banned them from traveling through the country.

Lakurawa is a new armed group that can attack, targeting areas in the northern part of Nigeria and across the border with Niger.

Nigerian officials say Lakurawa is linked to jihadist groups in Mali and Niger, and its writers live on the Nigerian border, marrying local women and marrying young men.

This adds to the problems of Nigeria, because it is already fighting several armed groups, from the Islamist group Boko Haram to armed insurgents.

The Nigerian government filed a statement at the High Court in the capital, Abija, on Thursday, explaining the group’s statement.

After that, Lakurawa was confused with criminals, murder of fines, murder of ransom, enemy of persecuting government officials.

The group was also said to spread positive sentiments in local communities and mobilize in workplaces, “due to injuries, and damage to lives and property of Nigerian citizens”.

The group released a few years ago in some villages in Sokoto and Keba, and people had informed the authorities that they did not have it.

Initially, Lakurawa members promised to end the bar gang and help protect the local people from cattle rustlers.

“But things came to a head when they started asking for people’s phones and they flogged the ones with music on them before selling them,” the man said.

In court, Nigeria’s lawyer, and the recent minister of justice, Eef Fagbemi, said that the group posed a threat to national security.

Last year, military adviser Gen Eddard Buku said the attack was directly linked to political instability in Mali and Niger.

The military held power in both countries, largely due to the pressure of Islam.

In a quick decision, Justice James Ootohoso declared the group “a threat group and expand these groups in Nigeria, with a particular focus on the North and North Nest areas”.

The move will give the Nigerian government sweeping powers to counter the group.

Protected organizations now have the power to disrupt and stop group activities, including arrests, prosecutions, asset freezes, and surveillance.

It can also lead to stigmatization and isolation of people affected by the chosen group.

Across the country, especially in northern Nigeria, people are afraid of another incident similar to when Boko Haram started in the late 2000s.

Boko HAMM means “Western education is forbidden”, and they have repeatedly targeted schools as part of an attempt to establish a brand of Islam in the region.

The group achieved full responsibility when it fell to more than 200 girls from the north of Chibok.
