New York drug trafficker Russell Defreitas sentenced to 53 years after Wendy’s incident


New York Kingpin Drugs was sentenced to a prolonged prison candidate on Tuesday after leaving two overdose victims to go to a Wendy’s Restaurant.

Holbrook resident Russell Defreitas, 55, was recently found guilty of acting as Main drug trader and 91 other charges.

Was sentenced to 53 years in prison, according to Suffolk district District Prosecutor’s Office. In a press release on Tuesday, the office said Defreitas was involved in “an extensive cocaine operation and a fentanil trade in Suffolk district, which caused two deaths from Fentanil’s overdose.”

The incident happened on May 9, 2023, when two victims – a man and a female person – were in a hotel room reserved on behalf of Defreitas.

“When a woman overdosed in a hotel room, Defreitas sent his associates not to call 911,” the office statement said. “Defreitas removed drugs and other evidence from the hotel room, and then went to eat in a nearby Wendy’s.

“Hours later, Defreitas allowed one of his associates to call 911. Until then, the female and man were fatally overdosed in a hotel room.”

Defreitas was arrested two days later. Authorities have found many incriminating evidence after performing the search orders on his trailer and hotel room.

“During these searches, police have drawn cocaine, fentanil, two filled firearms, cutting agents, drug packaging materials, scales used to measuring narcotics and numerous key tickets of the hotel,” the statement explained.

“In addition, at the time of his arrest, it was revealed that Defreitas had a bank card in the names of two overdose victims.”

Defreitas was convicted on Tuesday after defending himself in court without a lawyer. In a statement, the Suffolk Raymond Tierney County District Prosecutor said that Defreitas’s punishment “emphasizes the urgent need for stronger legislation” and approved the proposal of the Chelsey Law Act
