“When a woman overdosed in a hotel room, Defreitas sent his associates not to call 911,” the office statement said. “Defreitas removed drugs and other evidence from the hotel room, and then went to eat in a nearby Wendy’s.
“Hours later, Defreitas allowed one of his associates to call 911. Until then, the female and man were fatally overdosed in a hotel room.”
Defreitas was arrested two days later. Authorities have found many incriminating evidence after performing the search orders on his trailer and hotel room.
“During these searches, police have drawn cocaine, fentanil, two filled firearms, cutting agents, drug packaging materials, scales used to measuring narcotics and numerous key tickets of the hotel,” the statement explained.

“In addition, at the time of his arrest, it was revealed that Defreitas had a bank card in the names of two overdose victims.”
Defreitas was convicted on Tuesday after defending himself in court without a lawyer. In a statement, the Suffolk Raymond Tierney County District Prosecutor said that Defreitas’s punishment “emphasizes the urgent need for stronger legislation” and approved the proposal of the Chelsey Law Act
“The adoption of Chelsey’s law in New York would give prosecutors additional tools to consider merchants responsible when their products cause death,” the yes. “The procedures of this defendant directly led to two overdose deaths, but our current laws do not allow us to prevent these deaths that can be prevented as killings as they are.
