In his interview after the game, Sampson obviously knew the question that was coming: what kind of game was, and what is more important, why is it not a shot?

Sampson said Sharp was supposed to shoot that deep attempt with 3 points instead of jumping and letting the ball (stood around her, because he would twice a drivat to touch him first).
“Both of you guys, [Florida’s Will] Richard and [Alijah] Martin, both really good defensive, “Sampson said.” Clayton made a great game on that. But that’s why you have to shoot and get in color.
“Two is fine.”
But Sampson knows, no matter what the defense was, getting the ball into the net just had to happen.

“In the end, you have to shoot,” he said. “You have to do better than that.”
Sampson, however, said ESPN that he did not yell at his players in the locker room after the game. They fought throughout the tournament, including the descent of Duke in winning from winning in the last four.
In this finals, Cougars saw that their 12 points were deleted in the second half by Gator.

“I told them they were disappointed that they lost, but don’t be disappointed with their efforts,” Sampson explained via ESPN. “These guys played so much for each other. And to get so far away, they got a minute, two minutes, a hit there at the end of the national championship victory. I can be proud so much.”
