Alison Arngrim was 48 years old when she publicly discovered that she was sexually abused by a family member who began at the age of 6.
It was 2004 when the actress, who played Mean Girl Nellie Oleson at a “little house on Prairie”, first told her story to Larry King. She described how the appearance in hit TV series saved her mind in her 2011 memoir “Confession of the Obrije Bitch.”
The star became an advocate of victims of abuse of sexual abuse of children, but her work far from done, she insisted.
Arngrim is the president National Association to protect childrenA non -profit organization that wants to give children a legal and political voice in “war against abuse of children.”

Arngrim wants to fight a predator seeking places where children can find themselves unattended. Places like Hollywood are still a hot place, she said.
“Hollywood still has a problem with sexual abuse,” Arngrim told Fox News Digital. “Whenever you have an environment where there are a lot of children … there will be predators. There will be someone who wants a job where they will have a smooth approach to young children all day. And the more this job involves completely unattended children, the more attractive the job will be.”

“We have a lot of people who have sacrificed all their lives to help children,” Arngrim shared. “But, unfortunately, there are others who are not so.”

According to the organization website, it worked in the Congress and in 27 countries to produce legislation that leads to stronger, difficult laws that fight the use of a child.
“There’s a lot of work to do,” Arngrim said. “We all think that if anyone is arrested for abuse of children, sexual abuse, they will go to prison, and they will be on the list of sex offenders. But this is not always the case. There are cases where they are released, which are Bonkers.

Arngrim admitted that she had maintained her childhood abuse for years from shame for years. Getting a chance to finally tell your story was free.

“There are laws that say that a child can only work for so many hours in the store, but these same laws do not always apply to a child on a film or a TV set,” she said. “They are exempt. Laws were created in California Where you have huge regulations, but some unscrupulous manufacturers will shoot shows in other parts of the country so that they do not have to follow any of these regulations. “
Arngrim noted that as a children’s actress she felt safe on the set of “The Little House on the Obrija”, which was broadcast from 1974 to 1983.

“We had great regulations and, thank God, we followed them to the letter,” she explained. “AND [director] Michael Landon started working [in Hollywood] When he was really young. I even remember when Michael’s children would be on the set. The rule is that they could only be on the set during the summer break if their grades were at a proper level, and they had only in school.

“Nothing went through Michael,” Arngrim laughed. “He wanted to do things by the book. He also wanted everyone to go home in a reasonable time so they could spend time with their families. Surely you could spend another hour or two we worked on several scenes.
Landon died in 1991 at the age of 54 from the pancreatic cancer.

“I felt very certainly on the set of” Little House, “Arngrim thought.” I felt that if we had ever gone to any of the crew members and said, “This person bothering me,” we would not find the body for weeks. It was just an unusually protective set. It was a great atmosphere. Michael wanted this show to make progress. And if the children did not take care of, and we would not follow the rules, we would not not appear.

“No harassment of your children is a more profitable move.”
Today, Arngrim hopes that parents eager to put their children in the showbiz will seek signs of a problem.
“There will always be a predatory problem, especially in Hollywood, because it’s so easy,” she said. “Look at how many parents are so desperate if they saw their children become famous. … people can go crazy [the idea of fame].
“If they meet someone who says he’s a manager, an agent, a photographer or a talent scout and want to be alone with your child or want to take your child to another place in audition or anything else … they will just see this promise of glory. And things will happen. That happens.

They are looking for a child from a broken home, a child who has problems at school, a child whose parents may work two to three jobs and may not pay attention. … We have to be awake in this business. … It has become better than my day, but there is even more.”
