To an appearance on Easter Sunday and a picture of recovery, Pope Francis died Monday at the age of 88.
His sconance has been misfortuned with novels worldwide, including in Lasthbridge and over the southern Alberta.
“It was really crazy to see, especially on Easter of Easter. It was really devastating, just because he was so long. That’s all that I grew up,” said, Danica Gordon in Leth Gordge in Lethbridge.
She says Francis, born as Jorge Mario Bergoglio, will be a tough pontiff to follow.
“Honestly, I don’t think we will ever find someone like him again.”
To some he represented more than religion. He was a beacon of hope.

“He was more open, more modern, more (understanding of young people), understanding of (community). I think he was more close to (the people),” Sara Figueroa who was of Mexico.
She says they finally have a south American paus was huge for you from Latin America.
“I was pleased to be the first time for Argentina,” Figueroa said.
This faith was shared by Father Santiago Torres, the Associate Pastor by All Saints Catholic Parish in Lethbridge.
“I was born in Columbia and so to have a pope that was out of South America was huge. Definitely feel that you feel a little more of a little.”
That feeling of francis was raised for torres because his entire priesthood was operated under the pausart of the pope, to today.
“As a pope that ruled for 12 years, so for many people in the church, especially those younger, he is the only pope they have been known. It’s definitely in a different way,” said torres.
He says those who attend his parish, try to make sense of the monumental glory of Easter combined with the sadness of Francis’s death.
“The messages I have talked in the community, have already been wonderful – how to have renewed these great joy that take place, but at the same time, the deep sorrow comes with losing our pope.”
But he says all Catholics are together no matter where they live or what culture background they have.
“In a place like Lethbridge, surely removed, but apparently highly connected by our faith to our church and what happens.”
