A man wearing a knife seriously wounded Five people in AmsterdamIncluding two from the USA, during a stab attack in a trade district on Thursday, according to the Dutch police.
Associated Press said the police noticed that the attack, which lasted for a few minutes, ended when the suspect was stopped by a passerby near the town square late on Thursday afternoon.
The police closed the areawhich made emergency crews that responded to ambulance and helicopter trauma.
In a statement, the authorities said the motive of the attack was not established, although the police are investigating the situation in which the suspect randomly target victims.

The authorities identified the victims as a 69-year-old man and a 67-year-old woman from the US; 73-year-old Belgian woman; 26-year-old man from Poland; and a 19-year-old from Amsterdam.

“The suspect is detained with the help of civilians,” said police spokeswoman Elina Roovers for AP.
Guido Oostorm, another spokesman for the Police Directorate, said the victims were taken to hospitals in the area for treatment.
The State Department spokesman confirmed Fox News that two US nationals had been injured during the incident.

“The United States USA has no greater priority than US citizens’ safety and security,” a spokesman said. “We closely monitor the reports of the stab in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. We expand our sympathy with victims and families who have been affected. We can confirm that two US nationals were injured. Due to privacy and other considerations, we have no further comment.”
