Josh Brolin joked about quitting acting while criticizing the Academy for snubbing “Dune: Part Two” director Denis Villeneuve.
Brolin, who starred in “Dune” and “Dina: Part Two”, had previously threatened to quit acting if Villeneuve’s work in the sequel wasn’t recognized.
“I just want to congratulate ‘Dune’ for Best Picture, Greig Fraser for Cinematography, for Best Visual Effects, for Patrice [Vermett] on production design and sound,” Brolin said in a video he shared on his Instagram story. “Supposedly I’m going to stop acting because Denis Villeneuve wasn’t nominated.”
“This is how this thing works,” he added. “It doesn’t make sense to me. It’s okay. [Editor] Joe Walker and Denis, you deserve it. It’s an amazing movie. It was even better than the first one. The people who received praise certainly deserve it. Happy to be a part of it. Congratulations to everyone.”

“This is how this thing works. It makes no sense to me.”
Brolin praised the “Dune” sequel as a “better movie” than the first, as he threatened to leave the industry in November.
“If he doesn’t get nominated this year, I’ll quit acting,” Brolin he told Variety. “It was a better film than the first one. When I watched it, it felt like my brain was broken. It is masterful, and Denis is one of our top filmmakers. If the Oscars have any meaning, they will recognize him.”
