State Attorney Indiana Todd Rokita announced on Friday that his office filed a lawsuit against Sheriff of St. Joseph for illegal immigration.
“I filed a lawsuit against the Sheriff of St. Joseph [William] Redman and his department because of their persistent practice of refusing to cooperate with the federal immigration authorities, “Rokita told reporters at a press conference in a press conference South band, Indiana.

He said Sheriff’s actions would cause more migrants in the country illegally to come to St. Joseph and commit crimes.
“I refuse as your Attorney General to just stand and watch the iniques that are happening to the law officers,” he added.
Rokita said that Sheriff’s department is still not in line with Indiana’s law after multiple attempts to communicate with the sheriff.
He pointed out that, despite the lawsuit, Indiana would continue to support his implementation of the law, “but we will also consider those responsible for those who deserve to be invited to responsibility.”
“My office will not stop in our work here on this issue until the law is acted and we do not put our people first in front of illegal foreigners,” he said.
Rokita said his office “would be pleased to withdraw the lawsuit” if Sheriff’s department begins to cooperate.

He added that his office also investigates potential labor monitoring networks due to the reports of residents on the inflow of migrants to the community.
