According to an immigration expert, relaxed demands for a Canadian visa could cause difficulties in Romanian illegal immigrants who crossed the border to the United States.
“First of all, the reason they come from Canada is that Canada has abolished the conditions for a Visa for Romanians in 2017, I believe,” Mark Kricorian, executive director Center for Immigration Studies, said Fox News Digital. “So it’s much easier to get to Canada than here if you are Romanian. And so then you sneak around the border. And why don’t you stay in Canada instead of coming here? I don’t know.”
Data on the customs and border protection from the Houlton Sector in Maine show that the Romanians are made up of less than 1% border crossings in the fiscal 2023. In the fiscal 2024, this number increased to almost 12%. Of the 344 illegal transitions in the sector, 40 people were identified as Romanian nationals.

Kricorian suggested that Romanians may have been trying to connect with family members in big cities. The I-95 goes directly through Houlton, which could simplify travel to migrants south and connect with relatives.

Explained that most Romanians who leave their country flee to Italy and, to a lesser extent, Germany and others European Union countries. However, more migrants’ entrepreneurs can continue towards the United States.
“Italy is one of the great destinations of many Romanians,” Kricorian said. “But there will be people who want to come here. I mean, and the United States are better than Italy. There are more opportunities here.”

But with changing the conditions for a visa for the Romanians who want to enter the US, she expects a cryrian illegal immigration Numbers among Romanians who will refuse the beginning of the end of this month.
Romanian nationals will become acceptable to give up a program of visas at the end of March. The program allows citizens to participate in the US to travel to the US for up to 90 days without a visa, whether for tourism or work.

Kricorian said that, as a result, the number of illegal Romanian immigrants would fall, but that the number of legal Romanian participants would increase, some of whom will overpower their visas.
“Thus, the illegal immigration of Romanian will only switch, transforming from border jumpers to visas of excess,” he said.
