Government Illinois JB Pritzker signed on Tuesday a letter required White house For releasing $ 1.88 billion approved federal funding, which he says Trump’s administration denies.
Pritzker, open critic of the President Donald TrumpHe said in a letter to Russel Vought, director of the Office for Management and Budget (OMB), that Congress had brought nearly $ 2 billion in federal funds, “signed in the law and promised Illinois.”
“We have an obligation to Illinois to taxpayers and residents to require answers to the future of this financing,” the letter states, “including when Trump’s administration will follow the law and to manage the promises of the Federal Government that they will return the difficult dollars of taxpayers to the Illinois economy, workforce and community.”
The letter stated that nine agencies, committees and commissions at Illinois are unable to approach $ 692 million of mandatory, but not yet received from the Federal Government. Ten state entities were expected another $ 1.19 billion of federal funds that would be mandatory, and supports or programs “were basically paused”.
Although the letter did not specify which state agencies and other entities were supposed to receive funds, it shared some details about which programs were affected.
