Harvard University President Alan Garber pressed why Americans don’t like an elite institution during an interview with Wall Street Journal in the middle of a university back with the President Donald Trump.
Editor -in -chief of Wall Street Journal Emma Tucker pressed Garber about why “a lot of people in America really hate Harvard.” Trump recently announced that he will froze the funding funds that go to the university and Harvard responded with a claim Against Trump’s administration.
As Garber noted that there was generally a strong aversion to elite universities, he added: “But I will say that we had some real problems that we should deal with. One of them is a perceived lack of ideological diversity, among our faculties and among our students.”
“I have to say that there is recent evidence that makes me think it may be overwhelmed, although I think it’s a real problem. But the perception is out there that we are almost a uniform left -wing institution,” he said.

Tucker then pressed Garber why the Harvard college distorted Liberal, citing a Harvard Crimson study This revealed that over 77% of the colleges surveyed in 2023 were identified as “very liberal” or “liberal”.
“One thing I can say is that there is nothing intentional in our employment policies or our mandate rules, and I think there are certain fields with people with a more liberal or left -wing view of being welcome. It may be that we don’t have so many conservatives. Also, part of it can also not be comfortable when they are not pleasing to them when they are not comfortable,” he said. ”
He said that part of what the Harvard college was to do “to promote the idea that it doesn’t matter what your personal attitudes are, you must teach in a way that is FER on multiple views.”
Garber said during An interview with anchor “NBC Nightly News” at the end of April at the end of April that he had no choice but to fight Trump’s administration.

“I would say at Harvard, we have a problem with anti -Semitism. We take it very seriously and try to deal with.
Garber published a letter April 29, apologizing for the failure of the University to deal with anti -Semitic and antimuslim/Arabic tensions on the campus due to the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7th.

The Harvard University has also published reports of its presidential working groups on anti-Semitism and anti-Israeli bias, as well as antimuscan, anti-Arab and anti-Palestinian bias. In a letter to the University, Garber expressed his gratitude for the work of teams and complained of the increase in clearness and the “sometimes violent conflict” that happens in the campus.
“The academic year 2023-24 was disappointing and painful,” ” Garber’s letter started. “I am sorry for the moments when we were unable to fulfill the great expectations we rightly set up for our community. The grave, the extensive influence of October 7, 2023, Hamas’s attack on Israel and its consequences had serious consequences on our campus.”
