Former “Real Housewife Orange District” The Lydia McLaughlin star mourns the loss of her brother Geoffrey Shyam Stirling.
On Thursday night, Stirling died at the age of 45 after being shot and killed during alleged quarrels with a police officer after stopping traffic at Newport Beach, California, according to a Published Reclass to Public by the City Police Directorate on his X page on Friday.
“My family and I are devastated by the loss of my brother. We are grateful for the outburst of love and support of friends, family and community. We kindly seek privacy as we mourn,” said McLaughlin, 44, to People Magazine on Friday.
McLaughlin did not immediately respond to the Fox News Digital request for comment.

McLaughlin and Stirling’s father, Scott Stirling, who is the president and executive director of the Canadian company Newfoundland Broadcasting Company, also shared a statement with people.

“Geoffrey was a nice son, brother, uncle and friend,” Scott said. “He was a television producer, a screenwriter, actor and model. He attended the church every Sunday and supported more charity organizations. We already miss.”
According to a statement from the Newport Beach PD, Stirling, a resident of Laguna beach in California, drove his motorcycle on the Pacific Coast of the highway, when he was attracted by a police officer for alleged traffic offense around 9:15 pm.

“Shortly after he was stopped, Stirling became a single and attacked the officer,” the statement said. “During the formed violent quarrels, Stirling was able to remove the taser issued by the Department from the Officer’s lasting belt and tried to arrange it several times against the officers. At that moment there was a shooting that was involved in the officer.”
“Additional officers responded to the scene and provided medical help with Stirling until the staff from the Newport Beach Fire Unit arrived,” the statement continued. “Stirling was transported to a local hospital, where he was later proclaimed a deceased.”
The Police Directorate added: “In accordance with California law, The California Ministry of Justice (DOJ) was informed and answered to the scene for the implementation of an independent investigation. “
“Once their investigation is completed, the findings will be handed over to the DOJ -AS for an independent examination for a special persecution,” continued in a statement. “This remains an active investigation.”

McLaughlin was a major acting member during the “Rhoc’s” eighth season of 2013 and returned to Show’s 12th season in 2017.
In October 2024. McLaughlin announced that her mother was Judy Stirling, who appeared with her daughter during the 8th and 12th season of the reality show, died after a long battle of breast cancer. In addition to McLaughlin and Stirling, Scott and Judy shared their son, Jesse Stirling, 53.

“My family experienced an unimaginable loss. My brother Geoff was tragically taken and our hearts were broken,” she wrote in the inscription of her post, with a photo of Stirling.

“This was a song to which he turned after we lost my mom,” she continued, referring to the hit Billie Eilish 2024. “Birds of Pera.”
“He would cry every time,” she added. “I can’t believe we faced that pain just 6 months after I lost my best friend and mother. I know they are both with Jesus now, and he walks with me through this darkness. One step short.”
