Tracey Nix was previously found guilty of leaving the child unattended in a vehicle, causing major bodily injuries after leaving the 7-month Uriel Schock in SUV after November 2022, after returning home from infant to lunch with friends. The Hardee County Sheriff said that the little boy had opened the door, went under the fence and walked into the pond near the house of his grandparents.

Kaila Nix-Schock, mother of a girl, turned directly to her mother as she talked about her trauma, which is ongoing, losing two of her children.

Drew Schock, the father of Baby Uriel, spoke of the additional steps that they and Kail Nix-Schock were undertaken to protect Uriel after Ezra’s death.
“There are some things you don’t think about and, as parents, we have to live with it for the rest of our lives,” Schock said. “She did this twice and the fact that we discuss whether she deserves prison only I’m crazy,” Schock said a few moments later, on the way out.
Nix, who refused to testify in her own defense, said during the verdict that she did not realize that the newborn was in the car.
“I literally forgot about a long period of time,” Nix said. “I’m broken because of what happened. I don’t want to leave anyone with the thought of saying, because I’m not.”
