Liz Hamel, 18, was found unconscious in front of the dormitory at the Campus of the University of California Santa Barbara on February 14 after she apparently fell from the cash register. She died days later.
But what happened that led to her death remains a mystery.

Hamel, who lives in Seattl, told Fox News that his family reached out in the community this week to help find a man who was with his daughter’s night when she fell. Within 24 hours, university police managed to talk to a person who was interested in.
“I think it was incredibly successful. … I can’t say enough for Santa Barbara. It was so fast. They really helped us to move the investigation forward,” Hamel said. “I didn’t police. I’m on the outside, but they really seem to really move him forward. “
“An individual identified in connection with the incident in our residential hall is located and interviewed,” Santa Barbara said in a statement. “The investigation is still ongoing and we cannot discuss additional details at this point. The UCPD informs the family and cooperates closely with (District State Attorney’s Office) by Santa Barbara.

“UCPD is advocating for the continuation of its comprehensive investigation to seek answers regarding this tragic event and cooperates closely with the District Attorney’s Office and Sheriff’s office from the early stage of the investigation.”
Hamel said he did not know the man who was with his daughter or his daughter’s friends. He is not a suspect in her death.
Hamel said, as far as he knows, they met the noodles that night at the bar, “They hit him, and it was Valentine’s Day. So, I think it could have something with that. And, yes, they were only photographed from a particular corner. And then they left shortly after 10:06.
“She was great,” Hamel said of his daughter Liz. “She was our world. She was our only child. And we were all. She was a real joy. And, you know, we were so lucky that we were 18 with her. We would love to have more time.” (Alain Hamel)
