Empire State Building in New York shines Gold and White Treshing Lights for a four -hour window on Monday night and on Tuesday morning in memory Pope Francis After his death.
The building shone starting at 10pm on Monday night and will be lit until 2am to pay tribute to life and heritage of Pontiph, according to the Empire State Building website.
“The defining characteristic of Skyline New York City since 1976, the Empire State Building Lights have won the world’s imagination for decades,” the building said. “We keep the tradition of changing the color of light to recognize important occasions, holidays and organizations throughout the year.”

“Since 2012, the building has used a top LED lighting system, which could show more than 16 million colors,” adds the website.
Francis died on Monday morning at the age of 88, ending his 12-year papacy as 266 Pope and spiritual leader Roman Catholic Church.
“At 7:35, the bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the house of his father this morning. All his life was dedicated to the service of the Lord and his church,” Cardinal Kevin Ferrell, Vatican Camerlengo Vatican, announced on Monday morning.

Political and religious leaders around the world were mourned after learning to Francis’ death.
