In January, more people drowned and others were rescued from the beach behind the same resort where Konanki was last seen, Riu Republika in Punta Cani. The first three to recover were identified as European tourists, two from Poland and the second from Portugal.
The remains of the third Polish nationality were found on the coast the next day, according to Bavaro Digital, a local newspaper.
Vilchez noted that red flags were warnings that flew in the morning of Konaki’s disappearance, which is a sign that surfing conditions at the time are particularly rough. But she and her friends may not be doubtful victims after a night’s retirement on March 5th in the early morning hours of the next day.

Riibe cooperates with the authorities and has not been appointed suspect. But on Friday, his parents said they were concerned about the “irregular conditions” he faced during the first six days of the investigation.
“Despite its complete willingness to cooperate, Josh has been detained under irregular conditions and subjected to an extensive examination without the presence of official translators or legal advisers until Wednesday, March 12,” said his parents Albert and Tina Riibe, through his lawyers.
“He remained in his hotel room under police supervision and was repeatedly taken to a police station from March 6, where he was long questioned for long hours. This situation has caused serious concern in his family, leading us to retaining legal advisor to launch legal actions by providing his safety and protection of his rights in this process.”

Investigators with Sheriff’s Loudoun district in the hometown of Konaki sent two detectives to Punta Cana with the permission of the Dominican authorities. On Thursday, they interviewed Riibe, did some independent work on the field and on Friday they headed to the US.
