Frederixen warned that Europe faced what she called “insecure reality” and said her country would strengthen her military presence around Greenland.
The trip comes after Trump has repeatedly made various statements that Grenland called vital American national and economic security interests and expressed interest in buying from Denmark. Trump even said he would not exclude the use of military force to gain control over the island territory.

Frederixen did not directly mention Trump’s threat in comments at a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, but said that “we are facing an insecure reality, a reality that requires an even unique Europe and for more cooperation.”
