Daylight Savings: It’s about the sunlight

It’s not about mathematics.

But that is about sunlight.

“My goal is to just ensure that people get more sun,” said Senator Ed Markey, D-Mass.

“I like to say you can’t shove the sun,” he said Senator Ted CruzR-tex.

“American people like to have an extra hour of sunlight,” said Senator Rick Scott, R-Fla.

‘Stop the Hour’: GOP, DEMS gather to end daylight savings due to health, economic risks

The tax day is ahead. So, millions of Americans hope to receive a refund of the Federal Government.

And millions of Americans hope Washington will help them add an extra daylight.

Because of this, Congress tries to maximize the sun.

President Donald Trump

Some legislators believe it is time to “lock the clock”. Either choosing a standard time or daylight. But switching an hour twice a year may live on borrowed weather.

Because of this, the Senate Committee held his first hearing in the Congress on a two -year change in time for the first time after three years last week.

“We have to stop the clock. We have to find a solution and stick to it,” said Senator Lisa Blunt Rocheter, D-Del. “People across our country are tired of the permanent cycle of falling and spring forward. I mean, who has not forgotten to change his watch on their microwave. I think mine is still in the wrong time.”

We live on time: savings of daylight and ‘time masters’ of the congress

President Trump He has been opposed several times to the switching of the watch – and during this term in the office and during his previous term.

In March, the president called him a “50-50 edition”. But Mr. Trump again racing a time conversation with the post about the true social country. Despite not taking the attitude when he “pulled forward”, President Trump was emphasized what should happen now.

“Home and Senate should be strenuously pushed to more daylight at the end of the day. Very popular and, most importantly, no longer changing watches, great inconveniences and for our Government, a very expensive event !!!,” the president wrote.

Rick Scott DST Split

Rick Scott struggled with a time problem before. Scott performed two seats as a governor of Florida before entering Senate. Scott has signed a law that would allow Sunshine state (departure of figures) to change over time. Similar legislation has a double -sided support on Capitol Hill.

Scott looked at the president’s lead.

“We have a great opportunity to finally do this with President Trump on board to lock the clock,” Scott said.

But locking an hour in advance? Or an hour behind? There are few arrangements.

Trump says Congress should push more daylight at the end of the day ‘

The Senate voted for permanent parking of the United States in daylight, saving time in 2022. State Secretary and then Sen. Marco Rubio, R-FLA, has been surprisingly progressed by the law of the law without objection of any senator.

“Without complaints, so ordered!” Former Senator Kyrsten Simine exclaimed, I-Ariz, who presided over Senate that day.

“That!” She declared, mocking her hands toward her like a coach who had just drilled a field goal late in the game.

Rubio's questions are flashed

But the plan died in House.

“The change of spring clock to daylight saves is bad. But the permanent time of daylight saves is even worse,” Karin Johnson, a professor of neurology at the Umass Chan School of Medicine, testified. “Later outing and sunlight sunsets lead to higher risks of chronic diseases, including, but not limiting cancer, diabetes, heart disease, obesity and they outweigh the short -term risks of what happens with the change of time.”

Johnson also told the senators that “throughout the year, a natural, healthy choice that promotes physical health, performance and mental health safety.”

Congress discusses the future of daylight saving time

Johnson claimed that now they should not “choose something that has been tried twice and failed.”

Johnson’s right. Now they have “drawn” to daylight saving time – or its equivalent – in two separate opportunities. In 1918, the Congress voted for the nation to accept daylight saving time to save energy during the First World War. Farmers have encouraged the abolition of the day to save daylight. So the Congress canceled it. President Woodrow Wilson Veto is at the expense. But the Congress overpowered him. It is one of only 112 successful presidential vetoes overpowering the congress in the history of the Republic.

The legislators have greeted the light of time on saving time for saving time-leaning the whole daylight saving time-Sidin in the 1970s. That was in response to OPEC oil shocks. The nation was supposed to stay in daylight, saving for two years. But the new time turned out to be so unpopular that the legislators were unwinding watches at standard time after only a few months.

However, the time of permanent daylight has its advocates.

Jay Karen of the National Golf Terrain owner’s association told the senators that switching an hour in advance will encourage an additional 27 million golf rounds to connections each year. Karen estimated that the Golf Terrain owners would make extra $ 1 billion.

“The Americans prefer to recreation evening recreation during the early morning,” Karen testified.

But do you know who absolutely hates daylight saving time?

Convicted!

The University of Washington Study found that the only toughest day of the year on Monday after we pass every March.

Blame it for creepy judges who lost an hour of sleep.

Daylight saving time: there should be a law

“Some people get sharp sentences than they would otherwise be,” Scott Yates said of the clock lock movement.

Justice can be blind. But that can certainly say time.

Arizona and Hawaii do not observe daylight saving time.

Senator Todd Young, R-Ind., Is weak in the whole country. Two time zones split Hoosier State.

“We have 12 counties in the western part of the country that are in the central time zone,” Young said. “Perhaps the national time change policy is one size does not take into account regional differences that significantly affect everyday life.”

It all depends on the location. Some people in the north and east will benefit from a year. But the sun will appear too early in the summer and start too early in winter. Residents in the western parts of the weather seem to receive more sunlight later in the year. But other localities? Not so much.

“Hello Dark, my old friend,” Cruz imagined, directing Simon & Garfunkel.

During the hearing, Cruz commented on the witness that “your time had expired.”

And that could be the case with a change in time. But not if the congress cannot be agreed to do what to do.

Even the name of the March switch is. It’s a classic Washington Spin. “Daylight Savings. “The legislators basically try to convince the public to get more – for free. But they are not.

There are only so many hours and minutes of sunlight in the day. Period. It will always become too early somewhere. And the sun will always come too early. And although there is a lot to Congress, it certainly can’t control it.
