Comedian Conan O’Brien responded this week to criticize for accepting the prestigious Mark Twain Award for American humor last month Kennedy Center.

“Obviously in the last few months with a new administration, some controversial things have been going on with the Kennedy Center,” O’Brien said in this week’s episode of his Podcast, “Conan O’Brien needs a friend.”
“It was a question:” should I go? Shouldn’t I go? “And I felt like it was important to show up,” O’Brien said in his show.
“We brought under the old regime,” he explained, adding that the old guidance of Kennedy’s center “is gone, but we should honor their decision.”

“It was really nice because young people working at the Kennedy Center for years were delighted to come,” he said. “They don’t know what their future is.”
