Athlete criticizes Maine transgender sports policy as DOJ files Title IX lawsuit


The high school athlete in Maine speaks against state policies that allow transgender athletes to compete in women’s sports.

Cassidy Carlisle, a run skier, says she witnessed firsthand the effects of such policies. She recalled an incident from high school when she came across a transgender student in the girl’s locker room.

“As a thirteen -year -old girl, when you walk in the locker room and see a biological man standing there, it’s something you can’t contract in a word,” Carlisle said “Reports of America“Wednesday.

“I knew something was wrong at that moment.”

Carlisle says the incident at the time reported an incident to school administrators, but the experience stuck with her. Now he speaks publicly to advocate for what she calls righteousness and security for athletes.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s one or 100, taken away from women. And that’s wrong,” she said.

Carlisle’s comments come as US Ministry of Justice announced a lawsuit against the state of Maine. The lawsuit states that the state violates the title IX by allowing transgender athletes to compete in maiden sports, defying the executive order of President Donald Trump, who aimed to limit such participation.

“The Ministry of Justice will not sit when women are discriminated against in sports,” Pamo Bondi’s Chief Lawyer said at a press conference on Wednesday.

Carlisle says that she and other activists do not talk about this issue for them, but for future athletes.

“You know it’s not about me,” Carlisle said. “These are generations that come and protect them.”

The lawsuit follows a separate legal battle between Maine and the US Ministry of Agriculture (USDA), which has frozen federal funding over the state policy of transgender athletes.
