American tennis star Madison Keys upset the first -ranked Aryna Sabalenko and won Australian Open Saturday.
Keys, 29, won 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 in a tense match and thus won her first victory Grand Slam tournament.
Keys ended up with only one point scored more than Sabalenka Total, winning 92 points, compared to Sabalenk’s 91.

Sabalenka was trying to win her third consecutive Australian Open, something that last succeeded – Martini Hingis – from 1997 to 1999.
Keys was the second time in her career that she had the opportunity to have a big title, and the last one was defeat 6-3, 6-0 from the Sloane Stephens 2017 compatriot. US Open.
Keys had high expectations of herself in her tennis career, but she began to accept the fact that she might never win the Grand Slam title.
“From a pretty young age, I felt like I would never have won the Grand Slam, I would not have grown up to what people thought I should have been. It was a pretty difficult burden to wear,” Keys said.

“So I finally got to the point where I was proud of myself and my career, with or without Grand Slam. I finally got to the point where I was ok if it didn’t happen. I didn’t need to feel that I had a good career Or that I deserve to be talked about as a great tennis player.
“I feel like I finally give up that internal conversation that I just gave me the opportunity to really go out and play a really good tennis to actually win the Grand Slam.”
Not only did Keys upset the 1st Sabalenko rankings, but in the semifinals she beat 2. On the IgU świątek rankings on her way to victory at the Australian Open.
Keys was the first woman of Serena Williams 2005. To defeat both two best WTA players in Melbourne Park. She said that the victory over Swiatek gave her confidence that she could beat Sabalenko.

“The victory in that match against Iga was a big obstacle,” Keys said. “I always believed I could do it, but do it that way – I really thought after the match that I could absolutely win Saturday.”
This was the 46th appearance at the Keys Tournament on Straw, the third most before she won a big title in the women’s competition, compared to only 49 appearances by Flavie Pennette and 47 appearances by Marion Bartoli before winning.
“I didn’t always believe I could go back to this point. But being able to do it and win it, that means everything to me.”
