In a stunning return to sports, an American slider figure Alysa Liu He detronized the three -time defendant champion, Korai Sakamoto from Japan, at the Skating World Championships on Friday night at the TD Garden Boston.
Liu became the first American to ask for the title from Kimmie Meissner in 2006.
Liu’s victory was marked by a meteoric return after deviation from sports in 2022.

“I mean, so much means everything I went through,” Liu said after winning. “My last skating experience, my time and this time – I’m so happy, I guess. I am mostly glad I could throw out my best performances.”
Liu once was considered a rise star as the youngest American champion ever when she triumphed at the age of 13 in 2019, and then defended the title next year. She filled a childhood dream by qualifying for OlympiadHaving finished sixth place at the 2022 Beijing games and earned a bronze medal at the World Cup that year.
