Amanda Knox gives advice to students wanting to study abroad

Amanda Knox spent almost four years in Italian prison after being charged with killing her roommate while studying abroad.

The highest court in Italy has now liberated the 37-year-old from the murder of 2015. Today, 10 years later, the married mother of two said that if her children ever wanted to go abroad for education, they would give them a blessing.

Knox, whose book “FREE: My pursuit of meaning” She was recently published, she told Fox News Digital to encourage students to study abroad and travel. But she also warned of risks that come not to remain closely related to loved ones when they are far from home.

“I think it’s, most of the time, a life -changing experience,” Knox said about studying abroad. “I think it makes us better people to deal with other cultures and other people and go out of our comfort zones.”

“I think the thing I would always recommend is to anyone, any person abroad, just remember that you are removed from your safety net, the part of your life you never really think about, the one who is always there to pick you up if you fall or get lost – it is not there again,” she emphasized.

Knox noted that this is “time in our lives when we feel like we have grown up when we are not, and we are indestructible when we are not.”

“You should remember, especially as a young person, so that the search for help does not make you less individual or adult,” she said. “In fact, knowing when and how to ask for help is a very adult thing. So, I would recommend that … just be a little more careful. Ask for help. When you doubt, you always rely on other people around you. Always rely on your family.”

She also encouraged other parents to allow their children to spread wings despite their fears.

“Don’t be afraid to let your children go out into the world and become a beautiful human being that will be,” she said. “I think it is one of the really beautiful things we now have the ability to stay in a lot more than we were able to do while studying abroad.

“Stay in touch, be there, offer support, be there for anything. Being good listeners, I mean, would be the main thing I would recommend to my parents. The kids don’t like to say what they need to do, but listen and be an additional safety net to pay attention to something that sounds jewelry and just offers support.

“Pay attention to what your children tell you,” Knox added.

Knox said that she began to slowly open up about her past her oldest child, three years, which began to ask questions.

“My daughter is so smart … And she still doesn’t have a sense of tragedy,” Knox explained. “She knows that things are not fair sometimes, but she comes across the world in terms of fairy tales and playing. And so, that I have to communicate with her at her level in some way means being playful – even the worst experience in my life.”

Knox described in her book that people often assume that she would no longer enter Italy. She wrote that some would even apologize to her for suggesting dinner at an Italian restaurant. Knox said that despite what happened to her in Italy, she still loves the food and culture of the country.

Knox returned to Italy in 2019 As a main speaker at a conference for a criminal judiciary, hosted by the Italian project.

The case made global titles because the doubt fell quickly on Knox and her boyfriend from just a day, Raffaele Sollecito. But another man, Rudy Guede, from the ivory coast, was eventually convicted of murder after his DNA was found at the crime scene. The European Court ordered Italy to pay the damage to Knox for police failures, noting that she was vulnerable as a foreign student not fluent in Italian.

Knox returned to the United States in 2011, after being acquitted by the appeal court in Perugia, and founded himself as a global campaign for the wrong convicted. Over the years, she tried to clean up her name of all criminal crimes.

Today, Knox is on the Board of Directors of the Center for Innocence, a non -profit law firm that aims to release innocent people from prison. He also often discusses how high cases affect a loved one in Podcasta hosting with his husband, called “Labirints”.

Guede, 37, was released in 2021, after withstanding most of his 16-year sentence.

In January this year, the highest Italian court confirmed the defamation against Knox for accusing the innocent man, Patrick Lumumba, of the murder of her tenant.

Knox’s defensive team said she accused Lumumba, a man from Kong who hired her at the bar, during a long night of questioning and under police pressure, which they said had fed her false information. The European Court of Human Rights found that police had been taken away by a lawyer and provided a translator who acted more as a mediator.

Based on Knox’s statements, Lumumba was brought to testing, despite having an iron alibi. He suffered his job, and eventually moved to Poland with his Polish wife. He said earlier that Knox “never apologized to me.”

Knox no longer risk in prison. Continued her legal battle with the aim of clearing her name.
