4 Nations Face-Off: American patriotism on display even in a loss

Boston – It’s not common for me to get goosebumps at the beginning of a sports event, and they last to the final buzz. But it was a feeling I had as I watched Team USA to lose to Team Canada at the championship 4 nations at TD Garden in Boston.

I covered a lot of sports events in my career, but nothing compared to it. Do you have the opportunity to watch my country take its largest hockey rival with the championship on the line? I get goosebumps, again, I’m just thinking about it.

Before the match started, there was a drama about what could happen when the two countries were their national anthems that sang in front of mostly US contingent.

The answer was … somehow.
