Wildfire preparedness not compromised by Forest Service exits, USDA head says

Trump’s administration has been prepared for what could be the “significant fire season”, despite thousands of forest employees who leave within Trump’s offer of delayed resignation, said the US Secretary for Agriculture Brooke Rollins.

“Not compromised and will not compromise at all, 1%, what to do to make sure we are ready,” Rollins said Fox News Digital Friday.

More than 4,000 US Forest Service employees voluntarily resigned in accordance with the buyings offered by Trump administration, according to A Politico report.

The firefighters in the wild were generally exempted from redemption and federal employment freezing, but blue state leaders say the president Donald TrumpSlash-andnd burn approach reduces key support staff.

The reality is that Trump has decimated US forest service, “said Senator Patty Murray, D-Wash. press conference. “Almost every employee of the Forest Service supports fire operations in a capacity.”

Many of the departed workers held red tickets, which means they have special training or fighting fires or “provide basic support in the first place to fire crews,” said Senator Jeff Merkley, Democrat of Oregon.

But Rollins said that the Administration of Biden lost the funds of taxpayers to an unsustainable and irresponsible employment of people who “really did not have a job description”.

“That was in – not hundreds – in thousands of employment that continued in the last administration only in the forest service,” she said, adding that the service becomes “lean”, but not less effective.

Rollins and US Secretary Doug Burgum’s Secretary Signed Memorandum on May 20, signaling Trump’s administration fire response strategy. It is invited to remove obstacles and “unnecessary procedures” to ensure a quick response when fires threaten life and property.

Memorandum It also directs forest service to examine the impact of “voluntary departures” on firefighting workforce and proposed a plan for “correcting critical vacancies”.

Staff that do not have fire should also be distributed to support firefighters that increase the fire activity increases, which allows “more robust and more deliberate and more efficient force as we move in this season,” Rollins said.

“But we will not spend dollars of taxpayers the way we have seen each other in the past,” she said.

The fires have already been burning more than one million hectares throughout the country this year, according to the National Fire Center. The odds of the center show higher temperatures and dried conditions than typical of most of the West this summer.

“It is our prayer that this will not really happen, that it will be easier than usual, but indicators show that it may actually be a difficult fire season,” Rollins said.

She added that she was convinced that Americans would see “unprecedented level of coordination” among federal, state and local self -governments that the summer progresses.

“No zero compromise [on] Having the brightest, most effective [firefighters]”Rollins said.” And we will do everything possible to ensure that they have every tool they need to be successful this season. “
