I saw it on the stairs last night

The little man who wasn’t there

Today he was gone again

Oh, how I wish it would go away…

— Hughes Mearns

The conclusion will be on January 20 the most unusual episodes in the history of the American presidency. For the last four years, the presumptive president, Joe Biden, has been a man who was not there.

Bloody and historic events – the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Hamas pogrom in Israel and the latter’s pentagonal Israeli-Iranian war – shook the world, but Biden was not there.

Millions of non-Americans of all descriptions, including terrorists, criminals and members of the Cuban Communist Party, flooded the Mexican border and flooded our urban centers, costing billions of taxpayer dollars to support — and Biden still wasn’t there.

BIDEN DISMISSED TRUMP, SAYS HE WAS A ‘REAL THREAT TO DEMOCRACY’

And speaking of money: Trillions were spent by a decrepit administration that built nothing and accomplished nothing, but managed to cause an inflationary spike, making food, cars and housing less affordable for ordinary Americans – even though Biden wasn’t there for this either.

The President of the United States should preside — I mean, the title says.

Biden didn’t because he couldn’t.

From the beginning of this term, we are now told, old age had seriously weakened his body and darkened his mind—and the latter, it will be remembered, had never burned with special brightness.

Biden’s handlers have worked hard to keep him out of business. He spent 40% of his time in the office on vacationmostly sipping ice cream cones on the boardwalk at Rehoboth Beach.

Great concert if you can get it.

But Even when Biden was in Washington, he had “bad days” during which he was not allowed to play the president.

There were only seven cabinet meetings during his tenure — that’s 1.75 meetings a year, if you’re counting. Did these people know their names?

One can imagine that the meetings, instead of policy coordination, were about trying to figure out who the jolly fellow was who sat two chairs from you at the big table.

This was the cabinet that did not exist.

CHUCK SCHUMER CONFRONTS OLD CLIP IN WHICH HIMSELF DECLARES BIDEN’S FALL “RIGHT-WING PROPAGANDA”

The predictable consequence was an absolute political vacuum. The US government was guided by slogans: “arsenal of democracy” meant Ukraine, “immediate ceasefire” meant Israel, “fairness” meant racism, etc.

And once the slogans were spoken, we stayed with them forever. It was impossible for a brain-dead government to learn from failure – for example, in our dealings with Russia and the Middle East.

Even when Biden was having one of his supposedly good days and was allowed to go out in public, he was prone to spouting outlandish and shocking statements.

he said regime change in Russia was necessary. He said the US would go to war with China if it attacked Taiwan. He said many things that contradicted past American positions and were never part of his administration’s baggage—statements that had to be retracted, denied, and twisted by a horrified White House staff.

When Biden said of his Republican opponent, Donald Trump“The only trash I see out there are his supporters,” the staff waved their hands and jumped up and down, shouting, “No, no — you’re missing an apostrophe,” which was obviously the point.

How does that happen? And who are these people? Who can tell the president that he’s a stupid idiot – that he said another no-no, and it’s in the box with him again?

Who is really there when Biden is not?

Is that his wife, great dr. Jill? His sister, Valerie Biden Owens, whom Wikipedia describes as an “American political strategist”? Or his White House Chief of Staff, Jeff Zients?

While entire regions of the world are bleeding and burning, who makes these terrible decisions on behalf of the richest and most powerful country? Is it National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan — or perhaps the unspeakable Antony Blinken?

During most of Biden’s tenure, employees were portrayed as mere subordinates who cleaned up behind the boss’s rare lapses.

After his cognitive incompetence was painfully demonstrated in the debate with Trump, and especially after he dropped out of the presidential race, the story changed.

The family and staff, the new line read, were protecting the president too much. Out of affection and loyalty, they “covered” for Biden’s now universally acknowledged fall.

This deeply misrepresents the situation prevailing in the last four years.

JONATHAN TURLEY: WHAT JIMMY CARTER WOULD NEVER DO AND BIDEN DID. IT’S SMALL WONDER THAT HE DIDN’T MENTION IT

Whoever made decisions in Biden’s name criminally usurped presidential power. In 2020, American voters didn’t elect Jill or Valerie Biden, Sullivan or Blinken — they elected Joe Biden and gave him massive presidential powers.

If, at all, Biden had become too unfit to perform his duties, he could have resigned or been removed by invoking the 25th Amendment.

The coterie around Biden knew exactly what was happening. It wasn’t subtle. “Joe Biden is, like, dead. Not literally. He can’t, like, say a sentence,” remarked Henry Appel, a national security official.

Those closest to the president must have seen him at his worst.

Still, they decided to pull off a hoax where Biden was turned into a sock puppet and got the thrill of ruling the world.

“Blind ambition” is a trite phrase – but the kind of blindness to consequence involved in this scandal would make Lady Macbeth blush. The entire federal government has been flying blind all this time, like a perpetually circling aircraft on autopilot.

I have, as you can see, too many questions, but I will limit myself to two big ones.

The first is: Which persons in the administration – names and addresses, please – came forward in the persistent trampling of our civil rights?

Someone ordered that the FBI and Homeland Security treat Catholic groups and anti-transgender parents as terrorists. Someone erected and funded a tentacle structure of online censorship that silenced or downplayed opinions distasteful to those in power.

someone “debanked” or kicked out of the financial system, people who legitimately work on artificial intelligence and crypto. Someone has perverted the prosecutorial power to hunt down and persecute political opponents, especially of the Trumpist variety.

We know that Joe Biden did not commit any of these unconstitutional acts. He was too far.

So who is it? And what should be their punishment?

DAVID MARCUS: BIDEN GIVES LIZ CHENEY THE PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF INTOLERANCE

My second question is: Where the hell was the media while this clown show was going on?

Anyone with eyes could tell that Biden has gone too far, from where there is no going back. Most of us had a parent or grandparent who arrived at that sad hour – suddenly, a parent is a child and a child becomes a parent.

The situation was already visible from the beginning — from before the beginning, otherwise why was Biden campaigning in 2020 from the comfort of a couch in the basement of his home in Delaware?

The media should speak the truth to the government. They should have many sources, deep connections. We are told that the noble purpose of journalism is to inform the public, to make better citizens out of the ignorant masses.

None of this, of course, was ever true – but now it stands exposed as a laughable falsehood.

Journalists have special passes to the White House. They accompanied Biden on his travels, often on Air Force One. They saw what Appel saw: a president who “can’t say a sentence.”

And they decided not to think anything about it, not to say anything, to remain at best uncurious, and at worst to lie and thus ingratiate themselves with the powerful.

The corruption in the media it is too obvious to need elaboration. But there should be consequences.

Here’s a modest proposal: disband the White House press. Cast them out as money changers from the temple. Choose those American citizens who have the right to question the president by lot, as the Athenians chose their public officers.

Frustratingly, what we called for convenience, the “Biden Administration” decided to go out in style.

Hundreds of pardons and commutations were granted simply because they could be.

Hunter Biden now has immunity from prosecution for every crime, high or low, committed between 2014 and 2024. What crimes are we talking about? Maybe Jill Biden knows.

Vile murderers awaiting the death penalty have been spared execution and will live off the generosity of taxpayers for the rest of their days. Why was this done? Maybe someone in the White House can explain.

Medals were also handed out like candy to political allies. Liz Cheney of all people got one.

Cheney lost the last primary by a margin of 30%. Her sheer unpopularity, I suppose, made her an establishment hero.

on Monday, Biden has “permanently” banned offshore drillingone of a series of supposedly irreversible regulations that have been issued. On December 3, Biden surpassed his former boss, Barack Obamafor regulatory obesity added to the Federal Register in one year: 96,088 pages.

Who directed this senseless madness at the last minute? One nanosecond after Trump enters the White House, those irrevocable mandates, even if set in stone, will be erased with the stroke of a pen.

Led by a president-elect—who is, if anything, too present—a host of rebels and reformers converge on Washington, DC. A distant rumble is already heard.

There has never been a greater need for change in my life.

The new crowd will try to put bureaucracy on a stone age diet. I wish them luck. But what I want at this point are credible answers about their predecessors – who did what to whom and why.

Change can only follow the path of truth.

That process of discovery will begin in a few days, after the president who was never there finally leaves.
