If Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua were to fight this year 2025, who would win?
The rivalry between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua is one that has existed for years, but it only exists outside the ring and in theory. Once upon a time, Fury was the WBC and lineal world heavyweight champion, Joshua was the unified IBF/VBA/WBO heavyweight champion, and the expectation was that these two would have an inevitable showdown for undisputed heavyweight supremacy. However, that never happened.
Currently, both Fury and Joshua are showing signs of decline. Joshua is 6-4 in his last 10 fights, including a loss to Andy Ruiz Jr., a pair of losses to reigning heavyweight king Alexander Usyk, and most recently was destroyed by Daniel Dubois. Fury is coming off a losing streak, the only two losses of his pro career, both to Usyk. In the end, neither Fury nor Joshua proved to be the best in this era. Instead, Oleksandr Usyk won the division, and in very impressive style, becoming the first undisputed World Heavyweight Champion in the modern era to hold 4 belts after his first of two victories against Fury.
As for Usyk, the most logical next opponent for him would be the winner of the upcoming fight between Daniel Dibo and Joseph Parker. However, the winner of that fight could possibly get an opportunity for a much bigger payday than against Usyk if they defend against Fury instead, or Joshua in particular. Plus, assuming the winner of Dubois-Parker faces Usyk next, then a Fury vs. AJ fight makes a lot of sense for both Fury and Joshua.
The truth is that while neither is a champion, and while both have had their best, a fight between Fury and Joshua remains an interesting prospect with lasting ramifications for both heavyweights. It would also undoubtedly be a huge event where both fighters would be in line to make an awful lot of money.
