Utah family members charged with supporting Mexican terrorist cartel through oil smuggling


Two family members are charged with a conspiracy of support a Mexican cartel labeled as a terrorist organization.

Maxwell Sterling Jensen (25) and James Lael Jensen, 68, both of Sandy, Utah, were charged With a conspiracy that it materially supports Mexican cartel marked as a terrorist organization and a conspiracy for committing money laundering, as well as related charges of smuggling. According to the Ministry of Justice (DOJ), the couple allegedly provided material support for Kartel Jalisco New Generation.

Prosecutors said they intended to ask for a $ 300 million verdict if men were convicted.

If they declare themselves guilty, men could face more than 20 years in prison.
