US citizen who fought for ISIS in Syria sentenced to 10 years in prison

Naturalized American citizen who declared himself guilty of receiving military training from Islamic State In Syria, he was sentenced to 10 years of federal prison on Monday.

Lirim Sylejmani, 49, born on Kosovo and moved to Chicago about 25 years ago, dealt with at least one battle against coalition forces under the leadership of the US after entering Syria decades ago, according to prosecutors.

“This defendant will spend a decade in prison thinking about betrayal in this country,” wrote a temporary American lawyer for District Columbia, Jeanine Pirro, also former Fox News presenter.

“Anyone who thinks Isis is an answer is their questions, think best,” she continued. “We are going to any length to use subversive individuals who want to overthrow the government and harm their citizens.”
