Naturalized American citizen who declared himself guilty of receiving military training from Islamic State In Syria, he was sentenced to 10 years of federal prison on Monday.
Lirim Sylejmani, 49, born on Kosovo and moved to Chicago about 25 years ago, dealt with at least one battle against coalition forces under the leadership of the US after entering Syria decades ago, according to prosecutors.
American District Judge Rudolph Contreras in Washington, DC, said Sylimani’s prison sentence, followed by his entire life of the supervised release.
In December, the Sylimans declared himself guilty of one point for receiving military training by a terrorist organization.

“This defendant will spend a decade in prison thinking about betrayal in this country,” wrote a temporary American lawyer for District Columbia, Jeanine Pirro, also former Fox News presenter.
“Anyone who thinks Isis is an answer is their questions, think best,” she continued. “We are going to any length to use subversive individuals who want to overthrow the government and harm their citizens.”
In November 2015, Sylejmans and his family flew to Turkey before crossing the border to Syria, where training with other recruits of ISIS until February 2019, when Syrian forces captured him with his family in his family Baghouz, Syriaaccording to prosecutors.

Sylejman lawyers claim that he is not a “dedicated jihadist” and does not involve violence.
“He is guilty of guilty of his actions and the damage he has visited in his family, who remained detained at the refugee camp in Syria living in terrible conditions,” his lawyers wrote. “He just wants to complete his time and find his wife and children, so he can live with them an average life that respects the law.”
