A US citizen born in Russia who has already been behind bars in Russia for bribery, he was given a second sentence for espionage.
Eugene Spector was sentenced to a new 15-year sentence on charges of espionage, Russian news agencies report. Spector was born and raised in Leningrad, Russia, but later moved to the US and became a citizen.
AND Moscow court filed espionage charges against Spector last August, although details of the case are not publicly available.

The US State Department said it was aware of reports of an American citizen in Russia be condemned and to monitor the situation.
Spector, a former executive at a medical equipment company in Russia, was sentenced in September 2022 to three and a half years in prison for facilitating a bribe to an aide to former Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich.

The assistant, Anastasia Alekseyeva, was sentenced to 12 years in prison in April for accepting bribes for two expensive trips abroad.
Dvorkovich served as Deputy Prime Minister under former Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev from 2012 to 2018. Dvorkovich is currently the head of the International Chess Federation, FIDE.
