The White House will discover a new candidate to perform the post of State Attorney for Columbia County, after resistance to the current selection of Trump’s administration, according to the President Donald Trump.
Trump has previously nominated Ed Martin, a former defender who represented Americans accused in January 6, 2021, a clutter on the capitol, for the role. Since January, Martin has taken over the responsibility of a temporary American lawyer in Washington, DC.
However, the Senate was confirmed by Martin, due to the concern of the legislators. Republika Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina, a member of the Senate Committee on Justice, announced on Tuesday that he would not support Martin.
Illinois senator Dick Durbin, the highest Democrat on the Senate Senate Committee, also opposed Martin’s nomination. Especially, Durbin said Martin had made several false statements Senate judiciary committee.
On Thursday, Trump suggested that he would present another candidate who would receive wider support from Martin.
“He didn’t get support from the people I thought,” Trump told reporters at the White House on Thursday. “You know, he has done a very good job. The crime is in DC decreased by 25% in this period … that little time in today’s time I can pick up that little phone. But we have someone else.”
“I have to be straight. I’m disappointed,” Trump said. “Many people were disappointed. But that’s the way it works. Sometimes, you know, that’s the way it works. And it wasn’t rejected, but we thought it would be very – it would be difficult. And we have someone else who will announce in the next two days who will be great.”
The White House did not immediately respond to the Fox News Digital comment request.
This is a breaking story that will update.
