Trump says Edan Alexander will be released by Hamas


President Donald Trump He confirmed that the last American hostage, Edan Alexander, would publish Hamas after almost two years in captivity.

“I am happy to announce that Edan Alexander, an American citizen who has been holding the ground since October 2023, is returning home to his family,” Trump wrote in a post on his social media platform ‘Truth Social’ on Sunday.

“I am grateful to everyone involved in the creation of this monumental news. This was a step in good faith to the United States and the efforts of the mediator – Qatar and Egypt – to stop this very brutal war and return all the living hostages and remains to his loved ones,” Trump continued.

“I hope this is the first of those last steps needed to end this brutal conflict. I look very forward on that day of the celebration!”

The news comes after the terrorist organization has announced on Sunday that it is “in contact with the American administration of recent days.”

“The movement has shown a high level of positivity and Israeli soldier with dual US citizenship, [Edan] Alexander, will be released as part of the steps that are taken according to the certificate, opening the border crossings and the intake of help and relief for our people in the gaza zone, “the statement said.

Vice -President JD Vance also commented on the announcement, writing: “Pray for Hamas to follow and Edan returns home.”

It is not clear when Alexander will be released.

The hostage headquarters and missing families also published a statement after the announcement of Alexander’s edition, saying that “they accept and support the Alexander family”.

“If this edition is confirmed, the publication of Edan Alexander must mark the beginning of a comprehensive agreement that will ensure the freedom of all the remaining hostages,” the statement said.

“President Trump, you gave the family of all the hopes of the hoping. Please complete your mission and bring them all home.”

Trump recently marked his 100th day in power, and the families of five Americans still held him hostage, invited him to think about his strategy and put pressure on both Israel and Hamas, both economic and diplomatic means, to ensure edition of all hostages.

In addition, fifty members of the Congress sent a letter to Trump on May 9, persuading him to throw out the remaining hostages.

“As the months have passed from the latest exchange, we have to keep five remaining Americans and an additional 54 hostages at the top. Five US hostages include Edan Alexander, Omer Neutra, Itay Chen, Gadi Haggai and Judi Weinstein Haggai. He was canceled on the morning of October 7th – Saturday, he was not asked to stay at the base. His mother visited from abroad, and like many lonely soldiers, he had the opportunity to go home for the weekend. But he decided to stay, not wanting to leave his comrades to a short person on the guard.

There are another 59 hostages in Gaza, at least 24 estimated to be alive, including AlexanderNow 21 years after I spent two birthdays in Hamas’s captivity.
