Tim Bradley’s advice to Devin Hayes: Go back to Mexico?

Team Bradley wants former two-division world champion Devin Haynie to return to Mexico, where he began his professional career in 2015. Haynie (31-0, 15 KOs) fought 10 times against the lower division in Tijuana, Mexico, before came to the US

Hanney lost a 12-round majority decision to Ryan Garcia on April 20, looking weak in the chin. His power was also weak. Unfortunately, these things won’t change when Devin, 26, returns to Mexico to battle the second and third lines.

Humble pie in Tijuana?

Bradley fails to notice that Hannay now wants the big money for his fights because he and his father Bill feel they have arrived. They want higher pay than fighting in the US against top opposition. They won’t want to take a dramatic pay cut by fighting in Mexico. I don’t see it as realistic.

Once fighters start making millions from their fights, they don’t want to go back to making real changes like they did when they started their careers. Besides, they also hit hard in Mexico, and those fighters will shoot Haney’s glass beard from the jump, looking to capitalize on what Ryan Garcia exposed.

“Devin Haney, do you want to come back? Get back to your roots bro,” said Tim Bradley Ksgiving some pearls of wisdom to recently defeated Devin Haney. “Go back to where you started.” Where did you start? You started in Mexico. Go back and get one of those guys out of there, man.

“Go back there and start there. Have some of that humble pie. Go back to where you started. If you go back to where you started, I tell you. You’re going to come back to the top,” Bradley said.

Hannay’s chin is not strong enough to take the big blows from the fighters in this sport. Going back to Mexico won’t magically solve that problem. One can only imagine what a Mexican slugger like Oscar Duarte would do to Devin if given the chance to fight him.

If it was that easy for fighters to improve their careers by fighting in Mexico, everyone would be doing it. It doesn’t work that way. The only thing Haney will accomplish by returning to Tijuana, Mexico is filling out his resume the way he did before.
