Strategic move by Shakur Stevenson to catch Davis’ tank

Shakur Stevenson sent a message today letting ‘The Face of Boxing’ Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis know he won’t be playing on the A side and knows that he B-side in negotiations with him. Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs) says he just wants to fight.

Paidai Pursuit

This is a strategic move by WBC lightweight champion Shakur. He tells the media that he does not want to win “50-50” deal, and he knows it’s the B-side. Shakur tries to spring a trap Tank Davis making him weak in the eyes of fans and media.

Stevenson is trying to get the fans and the media to help pressure Gervonta into embarrassing him in a fight. It’s a clever ploy, but it shows Shakur’s desperation to get a union and, more importantly, a payday.

In the same interview, Stevenson said this about Tank: “It’s a struggle will pay me a lot.” He was asked if he would be interested in fighting his friend Keyshawn Davis, but said he is focused on Tank Davis because it will “pay him big.”

That’s why Shakur chased Gervonta day and night because of the fight. He wants the payday, and he won’t see the same money fight anyone else in the lightweight division. Moreover, he could get beaten if he faced someone powerful enough to reach his chin. All that talk from Shakur about wanting to fight Tank Davis to prove who’s the best when the reality is that he just sees him as someone who’s going to give him a big payday.

That’s why he’s in such a hurry pursued Gervonta non-stop to fight from 2023. He wants the money and he doesn’t want to earn it by fighting Edwin De Los Santos or his friend Keyshawn Davis or Andy Cruz in a rematch. Instead of earning a Tank Davis fight, Shakur used non-stop method to call him out in every interview to push him.

“I’m not going to act like I’m the A-side or deserve 50-50.” Let’s negotiate. Let’s see where it goes from there,” Shakur Stevenson told YouTube’s Sean Porter siteletting Gervont Davis know he won’t try to get the upper hand in negotiations for the fight. “I know I’m the B-side, but let’s fight,” Stevenson said of Tank Davis.
