Spain hit by countrywide power outage

Spain was hit by a huge power cut on Monday that affected most of the country, halting trains and making traffic lights go dark. There was no immediate explanation for the outage.

The Spanish electricity network said it had activated plans to restore supply in co-operation with businesses in the sector. In a message on X it said it was still looking at the causes of the incident.
