“Ryan destroyed him” – De La Hoya takes a shot at Garcia-Henny rematch

Promoter Oscar De La Hoya says he sees no “need” for Ryan Garcia to fight Devin Haynie again in a rematch. He states that Garcia already “destroyed” Henny in their fight last year, and there are better fighters for him, like Teofimo Lopez.

Haney’s Whining

Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) constantly whines about his loss and blames it on Ryan testing positive for the banned substance Ostarine. He used it as an excuse for his failure to lose.

If Devin really believes that, it’s odd that he would want a rematch. Why doesn’t he continue if he thinks Garcia is a “impostor.”.”

With the way Haney has been disparaging Ryan, he should forget him just on principle. That’s what Canelo Alvarez would do if someone he was beating kept knocking him down. Kingry should follow him.

During De La Hoya’s career, he wouldn’t give a fighter a rematch if he beat them as hard as Ryan beat Hani. Oscar would move on and not fight an unnecessary rematch.

Obviously, the money Hannay would get fighting other guys wouldn’t be nearly as good as it would be in a rematch. Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs) is a star and no one Haney can fight at 140 or 147 as close to him.

Bigger Fights

De La Hoya is right that Garcia doesn’t need a rematch because he hit Hani hard. There’s more money for Ryan to fight these guys:
