Reform UK claims more members than the Conservatives

Nigel Farage’s Reform UK Party said its membership had overtaken the Conservatives for the first time, in a sign of the growing momentum of the populists, who have just five MPs in parliament.

reformation The party had more than 132,000 members on Thursday morning, according to a live online tally, surpassing the 131,860 Tory members when the opposition leader was elected last month.

“This is a big, historic moment,” Farage said on Thursday. “The youngest political party in British politics has overtaken the oldest political party in the world. Reform UK is now the real opposition.”

Reform won five MPs in the election and was boosted when Farage met Elon Musk in the US in early December. Farage was a tech billionaire Consider donating to renovations.

Farage has sought to strengthen the grassroots campaign for reform by expanding its membership to regions across the UK where it already has some support, including Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Wales.

The party has voiced plans to emulate the electoral strategy employed by the Liberal Democrats, who typically target a small number of seats in local and national elections, honing their messaging and policy platform to voters in those regions.

Reform is trying to find thousands of supporters willing to canvass and gather information for the party, as well as stand as councilors in next year’s local elections.

The party hopes to win over a hundred council seats as well as at least one mayoral seat in local elections in May.
